Over the past five years the French retail market has experienced stable and positive development. Some years ago there was still a relative small difference in the return between large shopping centres in the large cities and large and medium-sized centres in provincial cities. But as a result of the stringent planning restrictions in France which make it relatively difficult to develop new shopping centres, there is a great deal of demand from tenants for space in these centres in provincial cities. Corio has from way back already been acquiring dominant centres in the provincial cities, and value is continuously being added to these by actively anticipating to consumers' needs and preferences in the catchment area and tenants' demand for space. The retail portfolio consists of about 25 shopping centres with approximately 410,500m² lettable area and a value of € 1.6 billion.
